Curtain Tassels – HDR image for Interior

Curtain Tassles by Jacques Garcia - Hotel Athenee Paris

HDR image of three shots. Curtain tassels designed by Jacques Garcia taken in the soon to open Hotel Athenee in Paris.

I had the chance to get a pre-opening visit of the latest hotel designed by Jacques Garcia in Paris. Hotel Athenee is located in the Opera district of Paris and the theme of the hotel is Operas. Each room’s furniture is custom designed, the tassels are hand-woven and hand-made only for this hotel. There are 5 different types of rooms, each based on a different opera. And the hotel itself only has 20 rooms. No two rooms are the same which is amazing. See their website here: http://www.hotel-athenee.com/

I had to shoot parts of the hotel for a pre-opening campaign which I did with pleasure. I may even return for the official hotel photos, but not sure about that.

Still have a lot to learn on interior architecture photography.

This was shot in HDR as I wanted to get all the variations of light and I didn’t have any lighting equipment with me – at all. It turned out quite well and the HDR is very subtle. I purposely wanted to just give a small glimpse of the hotel to announce that it is “in the works” and I thought this fit it quite well.

  1. Unusual but effective subject!

  2. What a great subject, and the use of existing lighting has worked out real well here Martin…
