Paris black and white spot color panorama

Paris Panorama almost in Black and White

I’ve published quite a few panorama’s of Paris in the the course of this photography blog. But I’ve rarely photoshopped them as much as this one.

I took this picture some time ago, you can see one of the originals on Paris Panorama in HDR but in terms of composition the Eiffel Tower is too far left and very small.

With a bit of photoshop magic I made the Eiffel Tower larger (the size it deserves) plus moved it more towards the center so the balance of the photo seems better.

All of this is of course a sacrilege to any true photographer, but as I tweeted some time ago, in my opinion, taking the photo and retouching a photo are both art forms that require amazing skill.

If you want to see the high-res version you can click on it below.

Having said all the above, I really need to find some time to take my real camera out for a spin one of these days.

If you want to stay up to date with my photos, I suggest you check out my flickr account. Or follow me on Twitter and Google Plus, however those channels are mainly talking about my work.

I love the B/W effect with the gold! But the size of the Eiffel Tower strikes me as a little weird-looking. Personally, I think the gold lights are sufficiently striking, without the exaggerated size. But it’s still a very cool image.

  2. thanks for the comment Avital! Do you think you would have noticed it without me saying it? Had I been located a bit more south in Paris it could have been that big 🙂 but critique is welcome.

  4. Hi Martin,

I am in love with your Paris Panorama with spot color on Eiffel Tower and Sacre Coeur Montmartre picture! I would love to have it printed on metallic paper as opposed to metal but redbubble does not offer a larger size. Can I purchase this through elsewhere? I would love to have the print at least 1 metre in length.

    Many thanks,
